In reply to your despatch of yesterday regarding the appointment of Mr. Bouring, which I prepared on the subject, the Secretary of State desires me to inform you that the Surveyor General's duties have been performed by Mr. Jaquinot at a salary of £100 a year, in addition to his other office.
I doubt the disposition of the Governor to sanction this temporary appointment if he can help it.
You are requested to apply to let Mr. R. Bawson act as Foreman.
